In Brief: Playground closed for repairs

People are asked to stay clear

A large section of the playground near the Lions Canteen at Inch Arran Park has been closed for repairs.

Many parts in the main area of the playground have been cordoned off with yellow tape. People are asked to stay out of the area until the repairs are made as many pieces of the equipment will have missing parts.

It’s not yet known how long the repairs will take so people are asked to check social media for updates.

Bike passes on sale now

Season passes for the Sugarloaf Bike Park are now available for purchase online.

The bike park is set to open in only a couple of weeks with the early bird special being $210 until May 19.

Community concert coming

The Harmonie de Campbellton Community Concert Band will be holding its springtime concert next month.

The June 2 show will take place at Alma Hall in Atholville starting at 7 p.m. and lasting until around 9 p.m.

Trail meeting Thursday

There will be a public meeting Thursday for people wanting to voice their input on changing the name of one of Heron Bay’s trails.

The meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. at the old municipal building in Charlo where discussions will be held on the possible renaming of the Charlo Sentier NB Trail.

Everyone from throughout Heron Bay is encouraged to attend.

Dog walk coming up

The annual Shane Barton Walk for Dog Guides takes place May 26.

Registration takes place at 1 p.m. in the parking lot of the Civic Centre with the walk to start at 2 p.m..

People with their pets will follow the waterfront to the Restigouche River Experience Centre then back to the Civic Centre.

The walk is a fundraiser for the club in its support of guide dogs.

Donations approved

City council agreed to a pair of recent funding requests.

Campbellton will be sending $100 to the Glen Levit Community Centre to assist in its upgrades with another $200 to go to the Friends of Healthcare Foundation for its upcoming annual radiothon.
