The weekend ended with a forgettable 8-2 loss on the road to the West Kent Steamers where they spotted the hosts a 4-0 lead after the first and 5-0 into the second before goals by Tyler Pazin and Izach Poirier made it 5-2 after two. The Steamers then added three more goals on starter Dekon Randell-Snow in the third period to make the final 8-2.

Two nights earlier, the Tigers played their second-to-last home game of the season in hosting the Pictou Crushers.

The cats led 2-0 after the first and held a 3-0 lead in the second before a pair of Crushers goals made it 3-2 after 40 minutes.

The Crushers tied the contest early in the third, sending the game into overtime where they were whistled for a penalty. Tysin Mulligan netted his second of the game (he also had an assist) 27 seconds later to give the Tigers the win, their first extra-session win of the year.

That’s tied for the fewest in the league, while their one shootout win is tied for the second fewest.

Jean-Alexandre Tétreault had a goal and an assist while Poirier also found the back of the net.

Mathis Guevin added a pair of assists to bring his rookie points total to 29 (10 goals, 19 assists) in 48 games, which has him 14th in MHL rookie scoring.

Ben Williams, one of five 20-year-olds playing their last season, made 42 saves to pick up his first win since joining the Tigers in early January.

The Tigers have played the fewest number of games in the MHL that have gone into overtime or a shootout (4). By comparison, the Summerside Capitals have played in 15 post-regulation time games.

The Tigers will be looking to end their season on a high note in their final two games of the season this weekend when they host former Tiger Kiefer Lyons and the Steamers on Friday followed by a Saturday evening game in Miramichi against another former Tiger Justin David and his Timberwolves, who are riding a six-game winning streak and sit just one point back of the Steamers for second in the EastLink North Division.
