Posting Problems
  • I can't find my ad. Where is my ad?

    If you can’t find your ad, there are a few possible explanations:


    • The ad may have been posted to the wrong CanadaEast zone. If you can’t find your ad in the desired CanadaEast zone, search the entire province. If the ad appears in the wrong zone, you will need to cancel the ad and repost.
    • The ad may not have started publishing yet. Verify the start date to ensure that it should be publishing.
    • If you just posted your ad, it may just take a few minutes for the ad to appear on CanadaEast. Usually, it will take less than 5 minutes for new ads to appear.
    • It may also be possible that your ad was rejected. Please check your email for instructions. (For more information on why an ad might be rejected,  see “Why was my ad rejected?”)

  • The photo in my ad does not look right

    Check the resolution of your photo. To do this, right-click on the file, click “properties,” and select the “Details” tab in the window that appears. If the photo resolution is below generally accepted standards (72 dpi), you should consider uploading a higher quality photo.

  • Why was my ad rejected?

    CanadaEast reserves the right to reject any ads deemed inappropriate for publication. If your ad has been rejected, the email notification you received from CanadaEast should provide a clear explanation.   • What is the purpose of a CanadaEast account?

    Your CanadaEast account allows you to track and manage your ads. You can view, make changes or renew your ads through your classifieds account.

  • What is a Verified Seller?

    A Verified Vendor is a vendor that has been vetted by CanadaEast staff. The purpose of vendor verification is to create a more secure online marketplace.

Placing an ad
  • How do I place an ad?

    Follow these steps to place an ad:

    From the main page (canadaeast.com), click the “Place an ad” button in the upper-right corner of the page.


    On the following page, choose an ad category by clicking one of the category buttons, then choose a classification from the pop-up list that appears.


    On the following page, fill in the ad details, upload any applicable photos, and choose the region you would like to target with your ad.


    On the following page, select desired ad enhancements. (You may preview the enhancements before you proceed.)


    On the following page, select your ad’s start date.


    On the following page, confirm your account details and payment information (if applicable).

  • Tips for writing an effective ad

    Here are a few things to consider when creating your ad:

    Ad Category:

    Choosing the right category is very important for users to find your ad. If you don’t know the category your ad should be placed in, try the following:

    • Search CanadaEast categories for similar products or services
    • Search Google with the following search sentence: “Popular keyword for <type the word describing what you want to sell>“
    • Email us with your details or call us 800-561-7166


    Ad Details: Make sure your ad is descriptive and clearly worded, so readers know exactly what it is you’re advertising. If you’re selling an item, include details such as the item’s condition, make and model, as well as any warranties, accessories, and extras that may be included.


    Pricing: Make sure your asking price is in line with other comparable items. Research prices for similar items in the marketplace: price is often the thing that makes or breaks a deal.


    Contact Info: Make sure to include your contact information (phone, email), so potential buyers know how to reach you. Always be sure to double-check the accuracy of this info before posting your ad.


    Photos: Adding photos to your ad greatly enhances its effectiveness. You can upload up to 10 photos for free. (Note: Always make sure to always use high-quality photos in your ads.     If you need to renew your ad to get results, use the renewal process as an opportunity to refresh your ad. Change your header, ad details, photos, and pricing (if applicable). This may help get the attention of readers who may have overlooked your ad before.

  • I don't have an account. Can I place an ad?

    You will need to create an account before you can place an ad on canadaeast.com. You can start creating your first ad without creating an account, but you will prompted to create one before the ad is finalized.

  • I’ve submitted an ad. What happens next?

    Once your ad has been submitted, you will receive an email confirming the details of your order. The ad will begin publishing on the selected start date. When this happens, you will receive another email letting you know your ad has been placed. If you have chosen the current date as the start date, your ad will be visible on CanadaEast within a couple of minutes. You can manage all submitted ads through your account page by signing into your account at canadaeast.adperfect.com.


    If you don’t receive an email from Canadaeast within 30 minutes of submitting your ad, please call 1-800-561-7166 or email classified@canadaeast.com.


    Please note: Ads placed through our call center (1-800-561-7166)  may  take up to one hour before appearing online.

  • How do I make changes to my ad after I’ve submitted it?

    You can make changes to your ad by accessing your account and clicking the “Edit” button next to your ad.


    If the changes increase the price of your ad, you will be charged accordingly. Please note, however, that you will not be entitled to a refund if you make changes that decrease the price of your ad. For more information on our refund policy, see “What is your refund/credit process/policy?”.

  • How do I change or add photos to my ad?

    Access your account, then click the “Edit” button next to your ad. Scroll to the photos section. You can delete a photo by clicking on the trash can icon, edit a photo by clicking on the wrench or add a new photo by clicking the “Select Photos” button. If you are having issues with photo quality, see “The photo in my ad does not look right.”

  • How do I cancel my ad?

    Access your account and click the “Cancel” button next to your ad. Please be advised ads are non-refundable after they have been published. For more information on our refund policy, see “What is your refund/credit process/policy?”

  • I want to renew my ad. How do I do this?

    To renew an ad that has expired, sign in to your account and click the “renew” button next to the ad.

  • I'm not getting responses for my ad. How can I improve my ad's response rate?

    First, you should consider the content of your ad. For tips on how to write an effective ad, see “Tips for Writing an Effective Ad.”


    We also offer various tools to help your ad stand out on CanadaEast. For example, you can enhance your ad with colour backgrounds, borders, and text enhancements. You can also purchase a Featured Ad, which provides a great look and premium placement on the classifieds home page, or a Sponsored Ad, which gives your ad a standout appearance and preferential placement in search results.

Payment Questions
  • How do I pay for my Classified ad?

    Although most of the ads published on canadaeast.com are free, ads for pets and ads featuring any kind of enhancements will require payment before they can be published.


    If your ad requires payment, you can pay online with a credit card. We accept VISA, Mastercard, and AMEX only. We do not accept any other form of payment online. For payments with cash or debit card, please visit our office or contact a rep to place your ad at 1-800-561-7166. Note: For security purposes, we do not accept credit cards submitted via email.

  • Will CanadaEast keep my credit card information on file for future transactions?

    We do not store any credit card details on canadaeast.com. Therefore, you will need to provide credit card information any time there is a charge.

  • Why is my credit card declined?

    Your credit card may have been declined for one of the following reasons:

    • The Billing Address, including the Postal Code, does not match exactly the mailing address your credit card provider has on file. If you are uncertain, check the address on your credit card billing statement.
    • The security code on the back of your card is entered incorrectly into “Card Security Code” field.
    • The Billing Name is incorrect. Note that the system only accepts letters; make sure it does not contain any other characters.
    • The credit card number is not entered in the correct format, without spaces between the digits.
    • The card being utilized is a debit card or a “debit” credit card. These card types cannot be processed by our online credit card processing software.

    If your credit card continues to be declined, please check with your bank before giving us a call.

  • What payment methods are accepted?

    We accept credit cards online (VISA, Mastercard, AMEX) only. We do not accept debit credit cards.

  • Can you send me an invoice?

    We invoice many of our commercial customers based on credit approval and advertising history. Ads booked by our private party customers require pre-payment with credit card.

  • What is your refund/credit policy/process?

    Our classifieds self-serve system gives you control of your ad and access to make sure that your ad information is complete and accurate. Because of this, we do not issue refunds for ads placed online. Once your ad is placed, it goes online on the web date selected and immediately generates exposure to our web visitors.


    We do not issue refunds or credits on ads for the following reasons:

    • Typographical mistakes made by the advertiser or errors that do not materially affect the value of advertisement
    • Ads cancelled after the first publication
    • Ad enhancements, web or print, that are cancelled by the advertiser after the first publication
    • Any advertisement that has already been published


    CanadaEast will make good if there has been an error with a booking made by your Brunswick News representative or due to a system failure. Should you experience either one of these issues while placing your booking, contact us at 1-800-561-7166 or email us.

  • I want to advertise my business. What packages are available for me?

    Banner Advertising: “Big Box” and “Leaderboard” advertising space is available on the CanadaEast home page and under all category listings.


    Automated Feeds Service: We offer Feed Services, which update CanadaEast listings automatically through a daily check of specified content available on your website.


    Print Advertising Packages: We also strive to empower advertisers by giving them the opportunity to advertise both online and in print. No one can deny the power of online media, but the fact of the matter is that not all buyers and sellers in New Brunswick are online. Online-only advertising misses key demographics in New Brunswick, so we also give advertisers the ability to advertise in Brunswick News publications throughout the province and reach up to 115,000 households they may not reach otherwise. Special print rates are available for businesses in select Employment, Automotive, Real Estate and Services classifications.
